About the Role
Valiant Space is an in-space propulsion company based in Brisbane, Australia. The company designs, manufactures, and tests non-toxic thrusters, space-rated valves, and full propulsion systems for small satellites. The company is continually growing and is onboarding new staff and increasing its product line.
This is an exciting time to become a part of Valiant Space and our journey! We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team for a fast-paced, hands-on position that will give you the chance to work on real space hardware!
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, manufacture, and testing of a variety of electronics for Valiant Space's propulsion systems, including for flight hardware and ground testing equipment.
Responsibilities
Support the development of embedded systems for Valiant's propulsion systems
Support the development of electrical hardware for ground testing
Evaluate electrical systems by designing testing methods
Perform acceptance testing of finished products and systems
Keep necessary equipment operational
Contribute to team efforts of overall product design
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field
Ability to work autonomously in a demanding startup atmosphere
Experience with PCB design software, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
Experience with scripting and programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Python).
Proficient understanding of common communication protocols e.g. CAN bus, UART, SPI etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication
Experience with hands on soldering, assembly, testing, and debugging electronics.
Excellent organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills
Passionate about the space industry
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
3-5 years of industry or relevant experience with electrical engineering design/testing.
Understanding, or experience with, common standards and best practices for designing hardware for space applications.
Experience with sensors, networks, and telemetry systems.
Experience in the Aerospace industry.
